We are a local church of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod,
located in Norwood Young America, Minnesota.
We hope you have a chance to visit and worship with us.
St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church was originally founded in 1865, with a group of some 30 members. A log sanctuary was first built for worship until the groundbreaking of our current sanctuary in 1915. In 1995, an addition and larger parking lot were built. In 2014 our sanctuary was restored and revitalized, maintaining all of the historic beauty and character of the past, while seeking to create a welcoming and wonderful space for worship.
St. John's has two pastors, a youth & family director and an office manager. Utilizing our personal gifts for the sake of the ministry - to equip the saints - is our passion and joy. We are here to serve you and equip you for life, faith and love.
Norwood-Young America is a smaller town of roughly 4,000 people. It was previously two towns: Norwood to the south and Young America to the north. In days past Norwood was the "Catholic" side and Young America the "Lutheran" side of town. NYA has a rich history dating back to the 1800's. NYA is home to the oldest German Festival in the state of Minnesota - Stiftungsfeste - which is held in late August. We value our farmers and families, our schools and sports, and much more. We hope you can visit sometime soon!
